The year 2000 called – they want their food foam back.

I never ‘got’ why you would want to put something that has all the aesthetic appeal of dish-suds onto a plate of food. But here it is, back again.

Having said that, this prawn risotto (the Portuguese do great rice and seafood stews) was complex and delicious. “Dish of the week”!

Clever marketing putting the restaurant name on the placemat eh?, for the blogger, FB and ‘Gramer brigade?

Wait, new season’s scratchies are on display.

Since Roman times, Aveiro has been a salt producer. Funny though, you never get it on a restaurant table – you have to ask for it.

  1. Really love this last pic. So evocative of a particular time of day in this place. People together at their ease. And us, in the room, being here and glancing out. A transition time – is it sunrise or sunset? Are they meeting for an early coffee before each sets about their day. Or is it time for an aperitif with friends and family which will become supper in the long evening. Poor Vincent VG would know how to render this atmosphere and warmth in paint. A sublime moment I think.
